Collection of recycled materials (blue bin):

  • What goes inside: Recyclable materials such as clean paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, metal (By-law 2302 art. 3.1). See the city’s website for a more detailed list.
  • Disposal: Curbside collection Tuesdays starting at 7am. Tightly covered blue bins receptacles may be placed on the curb for collection after 10pm the day preceding the collection day. After your blue bin is emptied, please make sure not to leave it on the curb past midnight the day of collection (By-law 2302 art. 4.3). You may also leave it outside your home, but not more than 3 feet (1 meter) from the building.
  • How to receive a blue bin: You can request a blue bin in person at the Public Works Department at 7001 Mackle Rd. (map), or by calling 514-485-6868, weekdays between 8am and 4pm.  Single family home owners and duplex owners will be asked to pay a one time fee of $50 to receive their blue bin. Duplex owners will be able to receive a second bin free of charge.

Collection of organic waste (brown bin):

  • What goes inside: Organic waste materials, such as kitchen waste and garden waste (By-law 2302 art. 3.5). See the city’s website for a more detailed list.
  • Disposal: Weekly curbside collection starting at 8am. Days vary based on location (see map below). Tightly covered brown bins may be placed on the curb for collection after 10pm the day preceeding the collection day. Compostable bags may be placed on the curb up to 3 hours before the start of the collection. The bin should be placed near the curb with the wheels facing your home. After your brown bin is emptied, please make sure not to leave it on the curb past midnight the day of collection. You may leave it outside your home, but not more than 3 feet (1 meter) from the building.
  • How to receive a brown bin: You can request a brown bin in person at the Public Works Department at 7001 Mackle Rd. (map), or by calling 514-485-6868, weekdays between 8am and 4pm.
